Amar Inaugurates New Flow Chemistry Laboratory

Amar Equipment Pvt. Ltd. has inaugurated its new Amar Flow Laboratory, a state-of-the-art Flow Chemistry Laboratory in Navi Mumbai designed to support process development, batch-to-flow conversion, reaction optimisation and scale-up for the pharmaceutical, fine chemical and speciality chemical industries.

The new facility strengthens Amar’s capabilities in flow chemistry and continuous manufacturing, bringing together chemistry, process development and engineering to help customers evaluate reactions in continuous flow and develop a pathway towards scalable manufacturing.

From Process Development to Scale-Up

Transitioning a chemical reaction from batch to continuous processing requires a detailed understanding of reaction kinetics, mixing, heat and mass transfer, residence time, pressure, temperature and phase behaviour.

The Amar Flow Laboratory provides a dedicated platform to experimentally evaluate these parameters and develop suitable continuous processes.

The laboratory supports:

  • Batch-to-flow feasibility studies
  • Reaction screening and optimisation
  • Residence Time Distribution (RTD) studies
  • Mixing and mass-transfer studies
  • Gas-liquid, liquid-liquid and multiphase processes
  • Slurry and solids-handling applications
  • Reactor selection and scale-up studies

Depending on the chemistry and process requirements, trials can be conducted using Amar’s portfolio of flow reactor technologies, including MicroFLO™, PinchFLO™, CorFLO® and SlurryFLO®, as well as customised reactor configurations.

Connecting Flow Chemistry with Engineering

A key objective of the new Flow Chemistry Laboratory in India is to bridge the gap between laboratory process development and equipment engineering.

Process knowledge generated during experimental trials can support subsequent reactor selection, equipment sizing, process configuration, automation and scale-up.

This creates an integrated development pathway:

Process Feasibility → Reaction Optimisation → Reactor Selection → Scale-up → Engineering → Commercial Equipment

By combining laboratory experimentation with Amar’s reactor engineering and manufacturing capabilities, the facility supports customers in progressing from concept to commercialisation.
